USANA - CellSentials : The Best Got Better

Excitement for CellSentials

On the heels of an international convention, and a new product announcement, the level of excitement is higher than I have ever seen. However, I believe there is also a level of confusion resulting from all the new information. Change is always difficult, but science is not static. Our commitment to remain science-based requires us to make adjustments and improvements as new and exciting nutrition science research emerges.

Four-Part Formula

We already had the number one vitamin/mineral/antioxidant supplement on the market, and we made very significant changes and upgrades to make it even better.
The CellSentialsTM are USANA’s flagship nutritional supplement: a combination of both the Vita-Antioxidant and Core Minerals products. Formulated to not only prevent deficiency diseases, the CellSentials provide advanced levels of micronutrients to retain optimal health and energy levels. The CellSentials are a four-part formula that contains:
  • Essential vitamins and minerals
  • Antioxidants
  • Other beneficial building blocks and cofactors for the body
  • A unique CellSentials InCelligence complex (made with USANA® InCelligence TechnologyTM) that helps activate the body’s own natural defense and health mechanisms.

Key Differences
Nearly two-thirds of the ingredients in the CellSentials have had some modification to either the dose or form compared to what was used in the EssentialsTM. These changes may vary by market, but some of the key differences are:

Vitamin A
The Essentials provided beta-carotene as the only source of Vitamin A activity. The CellSentials deliver a combination of beta-carotene, retinyl acetate, and mixed carotenoids to provide vitamin A activity.
Recent research has indicated that some individuals have a limited ability to convert beta-carotene to vitamin A. Excess body weight can also reduce the efficiency of conversion, and there are genetic polymorphisms that decrease the ability to convert beta-carotene to vitamin A. The combination of multiple sources of vitamin A activity ensures that the CellSentials provide a more efficacious dose of vitamin A to everyone, regardless of genetic differences.

Vitamin E
The Essentials provided vitamin E primarily as d-alpha tocopherol. The CellSentials provide a more balanced approach to vitamin E activity with a more moderate dose of alpha-tocopherol and a 300% increase in mixed tocopherols (gamma, delta, and beta-tocopherols), all of which supply vitamin E activity. In addition to their vitamin E activity, mixed tocopherols also serve as antioxidants and have a variety of biological activities that alpha-tocopherol alone does not provide.

Iodine
The CellSentials have much greater dose of iodine than the Essentials. Iodine is crucial for the production of thyroid hormones. Dietary surveys have shown that many people are becoming increasingly deficient in this important mineral, especially those limiting their salt intake.

Folic Acid
In some markets folic acid was decreased in the CellSentials, in comparison to the Essentials. USANA has always provided an advanced dosage of folic acid to ensure protection against neural tube defects. However, food fortification of folic acid has increased dietary intakes significantly in some countries. The folic acid dosage was lowered to a significant, but more moderate level to account for the increased dietary intake and to make room for increases in other important nutrients.

Choline
The choline content of the CellSentials was more than doubled. Average choline intakes for men, women, older children, and during pregnancy are far below the Adequate Intake established by the Institute of Medicine. Choline is necessary for neurotransmitter synthesis (acetylcholine), cell-membrane signaling (phospholipids), lipid transport (lipoproteins), and methyl-group metabolism (homocysteine reduction). It is the major dietary source of methyl groups via the synthesis of S-adenosylmethionine.

Vitamin K
The CellSentials have an increased dosage of vitamin K1, and vitamin K2 has been added for the first time. Vitamin K is an essential nutrient required for the normal biosynthesis and activation of several key proteins. In addition to its role in blood clotting, vitamin K influences the level of osteocalcin in bone-forming cells, and may play a role in preventing postmenopausal osteoporosis. Vitamin K2 is produced by bacteria, including some found in the human intestinal tract. Recent evidence suggest we may not be producing enough or getting enough in our diets. Supplementing additional vitamin K2 may provide additional bone and cardiovascular health benefits.

Alpha-Lipoic Acid
The CellSentials InCelligence complex replaced the former bioflavonoid complex and is a synergistic complex that includes curcumin (as Meriva®† bioavailable curcumin), green tea
extract (standardized to EGCG content), quercetin, hesperidin, rutin, and N-acetyl L-cysteine. It also contains an increased dose of alpha-lipoic acid, and resveratrol was added to the complex for the first time.
Alpha-lipoic acid is a vitamin-like antioxidant that is both fat and water-soluble and has the ability to regenerate other antioxidants back to active states.

Resveratrol
Resveratrol is a polyphenol found naturally in the skin of grapes, blueberries, raspberries, and mulberries. It is an antioxidant that plays an important role in supporting cardiovascular health, and research shows that it has a positive impact on endogenous antioxidant production and cell signaling pathways.

Why we need to add multivitamins to your daily nutrient?

Our soil have been depleted of nutrients and so does our food.

To make matters worse, our environment is becoming less nurturing to our health. To quote Dr. Wentz, “The air we breathe, the water we drink, and the soils we use to produce foods all have greater amounts of pesticides, heavy metals, and toxic synthetics than ever before.”

With so many factors beyond our control, it’s important to make the right choices when it comes to the parts of our lives where we can actually make a difference. This means taking a quality supplement to ensure that our cells receive every possible advantage in the battle against free radicals.

We need nutritional supplementation today more than ever before – don’t you want to make sure your supplements are the best you can get? The USANA® EssentialsTM were formulated with the right ingredients, in the proper balance, to support the health of your cells.

Take control of your health add the CellSentials to your daily supplements today.

USANA Joins The White House Office

USANAINC Joins The White House Office Of Science And Technology Policy Initiative In Support Of Microbiome Science Research.

As one of the leading companies in the nutritional supplement industry, USANA Health Sciences supports the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy's (OSTP) research in investigating fundamental principles that govern microbiomes across diverse ecosystems, influencing diverse features of the planet — human health, climate change and food security — to validate its markers with health relevance.

The OSTP addressed the future of microbiomes — communities of microorganisms that live on and in people, plants, soil, oceans and the atmosphere — and the steps it plans to take to advance the understanding of microbiome behavior and enable protection and restoration of healthy microbiome function earlier today in Washington, D.C.

"Given the current state of microbiome research, we believe we will be able to identify and validate a set of microbiome markers that predict the health risks we face today," said Dr. Kevin Spelman, USANA's executive vice president of research and development and advisor for the White House commission on complementary and alternative medicine. "Such markers could be the variation of a single bacterial species, a unique combination of different species, or a biological pathway in the microbiota. This work could lead to prediction of health status change as well as personalized measures of health maintenance."

Known for its rigorous testing methods, in vitro and human clinical investigation and innovative product technology, USANA's commitment to science has received recognition from NutriSearch Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements, ConsumerLab.com and Utah Best of State.

"Appropriate regulation of microbiome products is key to industry investment and, ultimately, marketable products," said Dr. Elizabeth Stulberg, senior policy advisor for food and life sciences at the White House. "We hope federal investments in microbiome science will bring us to this point soon."

Healthy Foundation for Baby and You

Starting a family changes everything for soon-to-be-moms — it means thinking for two, planning for two, and of course, nutrition for two. Whether you are pregnant, nursing, or looking to start a family, it is now more important than ever to build a nutritional foundation — for both of you.

Too many women are vitamin deficient during pregnancy, which means a large percentage of children are born without proper nutrition. Don’t let your child be one of them. Be sure to give your baby a head start by adding just the right supplements to your diet.

To get every nutrient your body may need, you may want further supplementation. Consider using the following supplements and USANA Foods to give your baby a better beginning:

Essentials — The Essentials can serve as an excellent prenatal multivitamin. Proper amounts of folic acid, zinc, and other important vitamins and minerals are all present in Essentials. A full daily dosage of the Essentials (3 tablets a day) provides 1,000 mcg of folic acid. Studies show that taking at least 400 mcg of folic acid can reduce the risk of these birth defects by as much as 70%.

BiOmega™ — This purified fish oil helps support a healthy pregnancy and is full of omega-3 fatty acids that are critical to the development of the baby’s brain before birth as well as proper eye development and growth.

Active Calcium™ Chewable — This supplement helps both mother and baby get the bone-building minerals they need. It also works as an antacid to help reduce mild heartburn symptoms.

Digestion/Detox — In the months leading up to conception, it is a good idea to properly remove unwanted toxins through healthy digestion. Limit your exposure and try using USANA Probiotic, Digestive Enzyme, Hepasil DTX™, and Fibergy® Plus.

USANA Foods — It’s important to be at a healthy weight before you get pregnant. Get your body in prime condition to carry a child with the help of Nutrimeal™, Nutrition Bars, and the RESET™ weight-management program.

If it’s time to start planning for two, remember to count in nutrition and build a solid foundation of health for your future family.

Change your DIET with Nutrimeal

What is Nutrimeal?

Nutrimeal is a low-glycaemic-index food to help reduce carbohydrate cravings and provide sustained energy and greater satiety throughout the day.

Do you want to feel fuller longer and have a more sustained energy level? Here is your solution: tasty and convenient Nutrimeal shakes. They are low on the glycaemic index, meaning that the formula is designed to produce only small fluctuations in blood sugar levels for more sustained energy and to help you feel fuller, longer. Each serving of Nutrimeal contains 8 grammes of dietary fibre and provides 15 grammes of soy, whey, and other proteins. Soy protein is a complete protein, containing all of the essential amino acids in optimal ratios and in a highly digestible form. Whey protein, which is also easily digestible, is an excellent source of amino acids essential for building a healthy body. Try the rich flavour of Wild Strawberry, Chocolate or Vanilla for breakfast, or any time you want a healthy meal you shake!

High-Glycemic/Low-Glycemic Food

High-glycemic food are the type of food that spikes up your blood glucose levels. Low-glycemic food keeps your blood glucose level more stable, helping to reduce carbohydrate cravings, leave you feeling satisfied longer, and control your appetite more easily. A poor lifestyle can cause your body to over-stimulate the release of insulin-the body’s storage hormone. In essence, if you keep overeating sugar and high-glycemic carbohydrates, you will be more likely to gain weight. High-glycemic food includes rice, potato, ice-cream, chocolate, noodles, pasta, (almost everything that you consider your favorite food) etc.

AVOID THESE FOOD during your Reset program with Nutrimeal.
Find out more at www.glycemicindex.com

The first 5 days (Reset Program)

Create an eating schedule. This is useful as you can plan your own menu. There are 2 phases in maintaining your weight.

Phase 2

Continue to take two servings of Nutrimeal and two portions of low-glycemic snacks daily. Stay on Phase 2 untill you have reached your weight goal. Then go to Phase 3.

Phase 3

Continue to eat one shake and two healthy snack daily.

For OPTIMUM HEALTH, take Essentials with your Nutrimeal added with 2 Proflavanol for breakfast and dinner.

USANA Products for Pregnant or Breastfeeding Women

The Essentials can serve as an excellent prenatal multivitamin. Proper amounts of folic acid, zinc, and other important vitamins and minerals are all present in this product.

It is important for women who are planning to become pregnant and currently pregnant to consume at least 400 mcg of folic acid per day. A full daily dosage of the Essentials (3 tablets a day) provides 1,000 mcg of folic acid. If a mother does not have adequate intake of folic acid within the first few months of pregnancy, the fetus may develop neural tube defects (such as spina bifida). Studies show that taking at least 400 mcg of folic acid can reduce the risk of these birth defects by as much as 70%.

It is important for every expectant mother to ask a doctor about taking an iron supplement, as iron is not included in the Essentials. During pregnancy, women should generally supplement with somewhere between 28 and 90 mg of elemental iron per day, depending on their needs.

Research has also shown that essential fatty acids are critical for developing babies. It may be a good idea to supplement with BiOmega during pregnancy. Before taking any additional or different supplements, discuss them fully with your doctor, as it is important to protect the growing baby and mother.

New start on year 2016 with USANA

I was introduced to USANA by my close friend in year 2013 because I have a concern about getting conceive. It really take a lot of initiative and effort for some women to get conceive. My close friend shared her experience that she has been tried to conceive for 7 years but not successful. Until she give in, and try on USANA PhytoEstrin which was recommended by a USANA representative. To her surprise, she got conceived 3 months later. She did share with me, that another friend of her took 6 months to conceive. I trusted her and there is no harm to give a try. It couldn't be much happier when I get know that I have conceived in less than 2 months with USANA PhytoEstrin supplements.

I'm so grateful that I my friend to share with me about USANA PhytoEstrin. USANA has impressed me and bring me confidents on supplements. USANA PhytoEstrin is recommended for women that always has menstrual cramps, for women that wants to conceive and women who has menopause.  I wish I can help other women that has been trying all their best to conceive, so I joined USANA as a team. I hope this year to come, I can help a lot of women to fulfill their wishes.
